Apply for a water restrictions exemption for your business
Level 2 restrictions now apply
We can provide some non-residential customers with an exemption from the current restrictions and will consider each application on a case-by-case basis.
If you're a residential customer and are finding it difficult to follow the restrictions, please read about special exemptions for residential customers. This includes exemptions to fill swimming pools and spas, water new turf and for other special circumstances.
You don't need to apply for a water restrictions exemption permit if you're using:
- greywater, recycled water, rainwater, bore water or river water
- water for firefighting, testing and related activities
- water for dust suppression and there's no alternative water source reasonably available.
If you already have a permit for level 1 restrictions, we'll contact you by mid January to let you know if we'll be sending a new exemption permit and stickers automatically, if your conditions will change or if you need to re-apply. In the meantime, you can continue using water under the conditions of your level 1 permit.
If you don't have a current exemption permit, please read the restrictions and exclusions carefully before applying for an exemption below. We'll assess all new applications against Level 2 restrictions.
We have received your water restrictions exemption request
We’ve received your request for an exemption from the current water restrictions.
It may take a little while to review your request and determine if you're eligible for an exemption. We may contact you asking for more information.
We expect to process applications within 30 days. During this period, you can continue normal business activities, unless we contact you.
If we approve your request, we'll send your exemption permit listing any conditions that apply and permit stickers for you to display.
